OUR VISION

"Seeking Justice with the Love of God"

- Luke 10:42; Matthew 23:23

OUR MISSION

To be the national grassroots network of lawyers and law students, committed to proclaiming, loving and serving Jesus Christ, through all we do and say in the practice of law, and advocating biblical conflict reconciliation, public justice, religious freedom and the sanctity of human life.

OUR CORE VALUE

Being a justice-seeking, Christ-following band of committed, loving friends.

OUR CORE PURPOSE

Transforming the legal profession for good one heart and mind at a time by enlisting lawyers and law students everywhere to faithfully serve Jesus Christ in the diligent study and ethical practice of law by ministering to the poor, reconciling people in conflict, defending life and protecting the religious liberties of all people.

CLS National chapter NINE ORGANIZATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Since CLS' national founding in 1961, CLS' nine organizational objectives, as set forth in its amended not-for-profit articles of incorporation, have been:

bullet  To proclaim Jesus as Lord through all that we do in the field of law and other disciplines.

bullet  To provide a means of society, fellowship and nurture among Christian lawyers.

bullet  To encourage Christian lawyers to view law as ministry.

bullet  To clarify and promote the concept of the Christian lawyer and to help Christian lawyers integrate their faith with their professional lives.

bullet  To mobilize, at the national and local levels, the resources needed to promote justice, religious liberty, and biblical conflict reconciliation.

bullet  To encourage, disciple and aid Christian students in preparing for the legal profession.

bullet  To provide a forum for the discussion of problems and opportunities relating to Christianity and the law.

bullet  To cooperate with bar associations and other organizations in asserting and maintaining high standards of legal ethics.

bullet  To encourage lawyers to furnish legal services to the poor and needy, and grant special consideration to the legal needs of churches and other charitable organizations.

These nine objectives are pursued at CLS by following the "inside outward" pattern for spiritual transformation , leadership development and community building that Jesus modeled and taught His disciples in the timeless "Beatitudes" of His Sermon on the Mountain. Matthew 5:1-12.

CLS members are unified theologically by their affirmation of a common statement of faith setting
forth the cardinal doctrines of Christianity. The Society's diverse, yet unified, membership
contributes to its unique mission:

To be the national grassroots network of lawyers and law students, committed to
proclaiming, loving and serving Jesus Christ, through all we do and say in the
practice of law, and advocating biblical conflict reconciliation, public justice,
religious freedom and the sanctity of human life.
