Bethann R. Lloyd

Adjunct Professor of Law

Ms. Lloyd is a member of Burns White, LLC. She focuses her practice on professional liability defense, including legal malpractice cases and disciplinary complaints. She is licensed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Ms. Lloyd is an active member of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and served as its President in 2024. She is currently Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Professional Liability Committee and, in that capacity, plans programs and lectures frequently on risk avoidance and ethics for lawyers throughout Pennsylvania. Ms. Lloyd is currently a Delegate for the Pennsylvania House of Delegates. In addition, she served for 8 years as an appointed Trustee of the Pennsylvania Bar Insurance Fund and Trust Fund, including service as its Vice Chair. Ms. Lloyd served a three-year term as an appointed member of the Pennsylvania Civil Procedural Rules Committee from 2010 to 2013. She has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer annually since 2011. Her peers also selected her nationally for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® from 2012 through 2025 for legal malpractice law and insurance law. In 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027, she was named as Best Lawyers’ Pittsburgh Legal Malpractice Law-Defendants: “Lawyer of the Year.” Ms. Lloyd received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, cum laude, in 1994. She received her undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in 1991.
